Steelers vs. Denver and Tim Tebow’s Website

Well football fans, the Pittsburgh Steelers who are the fifth seed in the playoffs travel to Denver for a wildcard game this Sunday. Why we end up traveling when we are 12-4 and the Broncos are 8-8 is beyond me, but it’s a divisional thing—weak division for the Broncos I should say!

The Steelers fall in the AFC North category and three, shall I say that again, three of the four teams in the AFC North are in the playoffs: Baltimore, Cincinnati, and of course Pittsburgh. I’m not sure if any other division has managed this but we fans of the AFC North are not surprised—nope not one bit
.
QB Joe Flacco of Baltimore never gets enough credit and he’s an awesome QB. You never hear Flacco's name alongside names like Manning, Brady or Brees. On the other hand, you don’t hear Ben Roethlisberger alongside those names either—nor the rookie in Cincinnati, Andy Dalton and that’s just a shame folks as the AFC North should be proud and then some!

The Steelers play this Sunday (4:15 EST) in Denver and will be without awesome defensive player, Ryan Clark who has a rare blood disease that prohibits him from spending too much time in high altitudes and well, it is the Mile High City so to speak. But the Steelers are resourceful when it comes to readjusting—heck if Ben was still hurt real bad, Charlie Batch could win the game. We will also be without center Maurice Pouncey who for some reason keeps hurting  his ankle—hey Ben, he’s your center, quit kicking him and the ankle! Jeez!

Now, on to Tim Tebow. I know the QB for the Denver Broncos is a religious man and I get it, I do but I also think it doesn’t belong on the field. Not the praying, that’s okay, a lot of players do that, but his pouring out to fans and the world if they don’t connect with their Lord, they will be sad, sorry souls is simply bad press and that’s why the media makes fun of him calling him the Mile-High Messiah.

Tim has a website—you can find it here. It’s appropriately called timtebow.com so that’s original. When I found the website via a Google search, the site also links to his Twitter and Facebook account and to my surprise, I found a mutual friend I know back in Taos New Mexico. She and her family are of the religious nature and I get why she’s “liking” his stuff and “following” him and all, but it’s funny that her hubby is an anesthesiologist and well, he put me under once or twice—almost killed me once by accident because I was allergic to an antibiotic we didn’t know I was allergic to and it took a while to get me back, but heck I was asleep so I don’t blame him. I don’t blame him so much, after it happened in the first surgery I requested him for the second one in case it happened again—he’d know how to fix it right?

I am Catholic, but I don’t go to parties reciting “Hail Mary…full of grace…” because that’s my thing. Nor do I discuss the Stations of the Cross or how great my first name is really Mary, just like the mother of Jesus! I just don’t and Tebow seems to think that sort of stuff is okay if you’re in any sort of environment.

I get it Tim, I do, you are thankful for the skills God gave you and I know  you will go far in your career because you’re good at extending the play, running and getting out of the pocket.

On a sad note, however, I just don’t see how Denver's defense can stop Harrison, Woodley and Polamalu? Wow isn’t that funny my spell checker didn’t recognize Polamalu but it did Roethlisberger? Interesting…but I digress as usual.

For Steeler fans who follow me on Twitter or feel compelled to write on my Facebook page, would you PLEASE quit asking me if the Steelers lose the game will they still have a chance at the Super Bowl—they don’t people—this is the playoffs. Win or go home okay? I’m tired of explaining this.

I don’t get the feeling the Steelers will lose unless they send in the imposters who played against Baltimore this season or in the last Super Bowl against the Green Bay Packers—a pack of imposters—all of them!

Well gear up, tailgate, get your favorite snacks ready for Sunday’s game and if you feel you must, say a little prayer—but at this house, it’s gonna be a Steelers' prayer—even though I know Tim Tebow will also be praying for us—in his own way. Thanks Tim, we do appreciate it!
